If you need to have one or more parts on your vehicle replaced, you may be a bit hesitant to get aftermarket parts.  People that you have spoken to in the past may have given you quite a few misconceptions about aftermarket parts, causing you to miss out on the chance to choose this more affordable option.  Instead of thinking that you must use the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts, use this information to help clear up some of the confusion you may have about aftermarket parts.

Myth #1:  Aftermarket Parts Will Void Your Warranty

The first myth that needs to be dispelled involves your warranty.  Although you may believe that replacing your current parts with their aftermarket alternative will cause you to lose your warranty, you may be mistaken.

For example, you may need a new radiator and choose to get an aftermarket exhaust.  This will more than likely not void your warranty.  Adding aftermarket parts will typically not void your warranty unless it's determined that the new parts caused an issue with the car.  As long as you're able to get a reputable technician to install the aftermarket parts, you shouldn't have to worry about the aftermarket parts causing further damage to the vehicle.

Myth #2:  Aftermarket Parts Won't Perform As Well

Another myth surrounding aftermarket parts says that these parts don't perform as well as their OEM counterparts.  This is also a misconception because the quality of the part will determine its performance, no matter whether it's a manufacturer's edition or not.

Just because an OEM part happens to cost more, it doesn't mean that it will perform better than an aftermarket part.  Much of this will depend upon who installs the part, as well as the level of craftsmanship administered by the manufacturer during the production process.

Do your due diligence by researching the different types of aftermarket parts before having them installed on your car.  Look at online reviews of the product, and ask your technician to make recommendations for you.  This can go a long way toward making sure that you are making a sound purchase when you buy aftermarket parts.

Getting aftermarket parts is a great way for you to save money and time, and there is a wide selection of choices available that can help you avoid waiting for an OEM part to arrive.  When you need new parts, put these misconceptions away so you can get the parts you need without breaking the bank.
